A Soft Call to the Soul

There is something about the miromiro, or tomtit, that carries an air of quiet knowing—a small yet powerful presence, a messenger of unseen truths. In Māori tradition, the miromiro was often seen as a spiritual guide, a bird of intuition and delicate wisdom, bringing messages from the spirit world.

In The Tomtit’s Whisper in Gold, I wanted to capture that moment of pause—the space where whispers of the soul can be heard. The soft golds, warm pinks, and ethereal creams create a dreamlike atmosphere, a place where past and present merge, where the unseen becomes felt. The tomtit, perched lightly on a delicate wire, embodies the quiet strength found in stillness, the power of observation, and the beauty of simplicity.

And yet, there’s a certain charm in its ruffled feathers—as if it’s having a bad hair day, caught in a moment of contemplation, slightly windswept yet unbothered. A gentle reminder that even when we feel a little disheveled, there is still wisdom to be found, and beauty in embracing life exactly as it is.
