The Awakening of Strength
The kārearea, New Zealand’s native falcon, is a symbol of power, resilience, and spiritual ascension. Even in its youth, it carries the essence of a warrior—fierce, focused, and destined for great heights. In Path of the Rising Soul, I wanted to capture that moment of awakening, the gentle yet undeniable force of a soul stepping into its own strength.
The young kārearea gazes forward, eyes filled with quiet determination. Soft roses bloom at its side, a contrast to its sharp instinct, reminding us that true power is not just about strength, but about balance—grace and fierceness, softness and courage, intuition and action. The background swirls with ethereal hues of gold, pink, and blue, evoking the unseen forces guiding us along our own path of transformation.
In Māori tradition, the kārearea is a bird of high status, a kaitiaki (guardian) of the skies. It teaches us to trust in our abilities, to move with precision, and to embrace the journey ahead, no matter how uncertain.
Part of my Petals and Wings series, Path of the Rising Soul is a reflection of the moment when we realise our own power, when we step forward into the life we were meant to live.
