This kaka has absolutely nothing to explain to you.

Look at that face. Certain, unhurried, completely at home in its own feathers. The colours around it - deep burgundy, dusty purple, slate - are not background. They are the foundation. They are what it looks like when confidence isn't performed but simply lived.

There is cheekiness here, yes. But it is not the cheekiness of someone getting away with something. It is the cheekiness of someone who long ago decided that their full self was not up for negotiation.

That is exactly the energy of this painting.
