When I created Waxeye Whispers, I wanted to capture the magic and light that the New Zealand Waxeye, or Tauhou in Māori, brings into our world. This little bird, so full of life and symbolism, inspired me to explore themes of connection, exploration, and hidden treasures.

As I worked on this piece, layering hues of gold, soft purples, blush pinks, and creamy whites, I infused every brushstroke with intention and a sense of wonder. For me, this painting is more than just an image—it’s a portal to creativity and spiritual harmony. The Waxeye, with its playful energy, felt like the perfect guide for this journey of possibility.
